Maryna Moroz vs Danielle Taylor

Moroz struggled to find her range, but apart from one heavy overhand right she ate in the 2nd round, she was in control throughout. The judges were divided, but Moroz took the deserved decision and I’m off to a winning start with bet 1.

Trevor Smith vs Joe Gigliotti

Smith ground this one out and Gigliotti struggled to get anything going. Easy job for the judges with Smith clearly picking up every round. Bet 1 drops.

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Zak Cummins

Entertaining fight that Cummins managed to keep more competitive standing than most would have expected. Ponzinibbio’s punches just had a bit more on them and he out pointed a busted up Cummins.

Thales Leites vs Chris Camozzi

A dominant and methodical grappling display by Leites ends in a 3rd round submission win. Not the most thrilling fight to watch, but you can’t argue with the results.

Dennis Bermudez vs Rony Jason

For two and a half rounds, Bermudez was outstriking Jason standing and on the ground he was able to shut down any of Jason’s submission attempts with his solid wrestling and G’n’P. Bermudez was briefly in a bit of trouble on the graound towards the end of the final round, but hefought through it and comfortably outscored Jason to take the win.

Yair Rodriguez vs Alex Caceres

Both guys employ the same high output, high risk style and it’s exhausting to watch, let alone do. If either fighter wants to progress through the ranks, I suspect they’ll have to start mixing in some more direct techniques. A good developmental experience for both guys and another win on Rodriguez’ record.

Four out of six picks right, but unfortunately a wrong pick in each accumulator so no money back. Ah well, it happens. Couple of weeks to have a good look at the UFC 202 card now and get back on track with a few wins.

Bet 1 – £10 returning £0.00

Yair Rodriguez to beat Alex Caceres – win

Dennis Bermudez to beat Rony Jason – win

Chris Camozzi to beat Thales Leites – lose

Bet 2 – £ 10 returning £0.00

Santiago Ponzinibbio to beat Zak Cummins – win

Joe Gigliotti to beat Trevor Smith – lose

Maryna Moroz to beat Danielle Taylor – win

Damn 9-5 life is getting in the way of spending any proper time researching this card, or doing anything else enjoyable. Just about got time to make some finger in the air picks for the main card, but I’m not confident of doing all that well.

Yair Rodriguez vs Alex Caceres

Tough to split these two, who both won in impressive fashion last time out. I’m going to go with Rodriguez for the arbitrary reason that I have backed him as a winner before, but not Caceres. Could go either way though.

Dennis Bermudez vs Rony Jason

Bermudez got himself back into winning ways in February after dropping his two previous bouts. Ronny Jason had his previous win scrubbed to a N/C after pissing hot, so hasn’t actually chalked up a win in over two years. Bermudez takes this one.

Thales Leites vs Chris Camozzi

Although Leites has lost his last two, those were fights where he took Gegard Mousasi and Michael Bisping to decisions. Camozzi is putting a nice run together, including spoiling my bet last time out by beating Vitor Miranda. The bookies have Leites as favourite, but I’m leaning towards Camozzi, mostly based on momentum.

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Zak Cummins

Ponzinibbio is a heavy handed finisher and if he can keep it standing, I like him to beat Cummins here.

Trevor Smith vs Joe Gigliotti

Smith certainly has the experience advantage at 13-6 and with some decent names on his resumé (although he’s lost to most of those names). However, I’m going to take a punt on the 7-0 young fighter walking into the Octagon for the first time. Go on son, make a name for yourself.

Maryna Moroz vs Danielle Taylor

I backed Moroz when she beat Cristina Stanciu in April, and I’m going to get on her again here to welcome Taylor into the promotion. They’re both on a 7-1 record, but this is Moroz’ fourth UFC outing which should hopefully give her a decent edge.

So in terms of the bet, nothing fancy, just a four fight accumulator

Bet 1 – £10 returning £48.15

Yair Rodriguez to beat Alex Caceres

Dennis Bermudez to beat Rony Jason

Chris Camozzi to beat Thales Leites

Bet 2 – £ 10 returning 35.71

Santiago Ponzinibbio to beat Zak Cummins

Joe Gigliotti to beat Trevor Smith

Maryna Moroz to beat Danielle Taylor
