In addition to a single bet on Rockhold vs Bisping, I’d gone for a big accumulator on seven main card and FS1 prelim fights.

Cole Miller to beat Alex Caceres – lose

Caceras out-struck Miller for the first two rounds and although Miller had some success on the ground in the final round, it was too little too late. Caceras took the decision and my big bet fell at the first hurdle.

Beneil Dariush to beat James Vick – win

Vick is big and strong for the weight, and is definitely a young prospect to watch, but as expected, Dariush was just too much for him here, bringing constant pressure, and being first to the punch more often than not. First round KO for Dariush.

Brian Ortega to beat Clay Guida – win

As usual, Guida set a blistering pace and certainly took the first round. In the second round Ortega did start to find his range and disrupt some of Guida’s aggression, but probably not enough to level it up. Deep into the final round, when it looked like the decision loss was certain, Ortega landed a big knee that shut Guida’s lights off and he snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Dustin Poirier to beat Bobby Green – win

Great performance and KO finish by Dustin Poirier, helped by the fact Bobby Green thinks dropping his hands and flapping his gums is a good idea in a fight. “Chat shit, get banged.” Poirier looks good at 155 and will likely be straight on the betting slip next time out.

Hector Lombard to beat Dan Henderson – lose

After a fairly slow start to the opening round, Henderson landed a right hand that wobbled Lombard, but that also fired him into action. Henderson took some heavy punishment and made it to the bell by the skin of his teeth. Early in the second both were looking to land their big power shot, but rather than the usual shuffle-shuffle-H Bomb doing the job it was a head kick, followed by a backwards elbow to the temple that Henderson landed to get Lombard out of there. Well done Dan. Hang ‘em up on a win mate.

Max Holloway to beat Ricardo Lamas – win

Great fight, and although Lamas pushed him pretty hard, Holloway just looked a class above. Clear decision win, and surely next in line for a title shot.

Dominick Cruz to beat Uriah Faber – win

There’s no quit in Uriah Faber, but this was the Dominick Cruz show. One-way traffic and an easy job for the judges.

Bisping to beat Rockhold – win

Genuine hair standing on end anticipation as I watched Bisping walk in to finally fight for a title. As I said in my preview piece, I’m a long time self-confessed Bisping nuthugger. I accepted that Rockhold deserved the favourite status going in to this fight, but to have Bisping as a 5/1 outside was insulting and a great betting opportunity. The 1st round was a close one and as it headed towards its conclusion, it was looking like a 10/10. That was until Michael “Pillow Hands” Bisping connected with a couple of left hands and knocked Luke Rockhold out. My winnng bet aside, I couldn’t be happier for the man. The first British UFC Champion, and a thoroughly deserving one. Haters gonna hate, but I’m a fan, and I can’t wait ti see him defend it, whoever that may be against.

Bet 1 – £10 returned £60.00

Bisping to beat Rockhold

Bet 2 – £10 returned £0.00

Dominick Cruz to beat Uriah Faber

Max Holloway to beat Ricardo Lamas

Hector Lombard to beat Dan Henderson

Dustin Poirier to beat Bobby Green

Brian Ortega to beat Clay Guida

Beneil Dariush to beat James Vick

Cole Miller to beat Alex Caceres

So, I got 5 out of 7 right for my big bet, so no cash there, but I backed Bisping to win, so  I turned a profit for the event. Time to start planning for UFC Fight Night MacDonald vs Thompson.
