Leon Edwards to beat Dominic Waters – win

Solid 30-27 win on all three judges’ cards. Edwards looks like an interesting prospect with a good all round game. One to watch for future cards.

Neil Seery to beat Kyoji Horiguchi – lose

Gutsy performance by Neil Seery but Horiguchi’s attack was just too fast and varied. Great fight, but no good for my first bet of the card.

Yan Cabral to beat Reza Medadi – lose

One round each going into the final round of a very close fight, Medadi landed a big uppercut that put Cabral out on his feet. Prelim bet falls at the first hurdle.

Magnus Cedenbald to beat Garreth McLellan – win

You couldn’t get much more contrast between two fighters’ walk-ins. My money is on the chilled Scandie over the intense South African. After a fairly uneventful 1st round, Cedenbald landed a big kick that stunned McLellan through his guard and put him away with the follow-up punches.

Chris Wade to beat Rustam Khabilov – lose

When Wade landed an eye-catching jumping kick that dropped Khabilov mid-way through the 2nd round, it looked like he might get the win, but the Russian survived it and ground out the rest of the fight to win by decision.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz to beat Heather Jo Clark – win

After a slow start, Kowalkiewicz found her rhythm and did enough to earn a decision will in this entertaining main card opener.

Nikita Krylov to beat Francimar Barroso – win

Barroso took Krylov into the 2nd round for only the second time in his career, but he got his third consecutive submission finish midway through the round, apparently submitting his fourth BJJ black belt in the process.

Germaine De Randamie to beat Anna Elmose – win

A brave effort by Elmose in her debut, but de Randamie is a killer. She folded up Elmose with a sickening knee to the body that we all felt.

Gunnar Nelson to beat Albert Tumenov – win

Gunni was out-striking Tumenov, but on the ground it was complete domination and only a matter of time before the submission came. Fantastic win by Gunner Nelson.

Stefan Struve to beat Antonio Silva – win

Bigfoot charged in and straight into the second fastest KO in UFC heavyweight history. Some complaints from Bigfoot, but there’s nothing wrong with that stoppage. He was done.

Alistair Overeem to beat Andre Arlovski – win

After nicking the 1st round with a late takedown and GnP, Overeem put Arlovski away with a jumping headkick followed by a vicious looping left.  Absolute killer.

So, after no luck in the prelims, I nailed the main card with a 6 fight accumulator. That’s the way to do it. Time to start looking forward to UFC 198 and seeing what’s there to be won.
